The Redeemed People’s Church (RPC) on Sunday 10 November 2023, celebrated the RPC Day. This is the that the church celebrates its establishment. This year’s celebrations marked 7 years since RPC was founded. These celebrations were held under the theme: “Celebrating the Goodness of God.” RPC day is commemorated on the 30th of October every year. This year the day fell on a Wednesday, when thanks giving prayers were held. But the main celebration event was shifted to Sunday 10 November.
Speaking during the service, the founder Bishop Dr Chimwemwe Chikukula Mhango said that for the past 7 years the church has seen goodness of God. As there were so many spiritual and court battles that the church had to fight. In all these battles God has seen the church through. Hence the need to celebrate and thank God for his goodness. He further said that a lot of people thought that the church will not go far but die within the shortest time period. Instead RPC has grown tremendously in the past 7 years as it has over 10 branches country wide.
The celebrations were characterized by music performances by different choirs from within the church. There were also guest artists who performed during the event, like the Great Angels Choir, Skeffa Chimoto and Alex Mkalo (The Zionist). Speaking to the church Skeffa Chimoto encouraged the people to be prayerful as prayer is the weapon against every battle. He said, he believe that for the church to be where it is today its because of prayers. He further said that personally he has learnt a lot from the Bishop as a person as well as a musician. On his part Ephraim Zonda leader of The Great Angels choir said its good to see that the church is growing since the last time they visited. He asked the congregation for unity and love the Bishop so that the church continues to grow.
This years main celebrations were held at Lilongwe Worship Centre, while in other worship centres like in Karonga and Mzuzu also held similar celebrations.
