BACKGROUND
Victory RPC Worship Center started on 18th September, 2022. Members of this church started gathering in a house of one of its members by the name Chinkwita Mwale who offered his house for prayers.
Before the members of this church started gathering at By-pass all members were worshiping at Tsabango RPC prayer house now called Dominion Worship Centre which is being led by Pastor Mtende Munthali and Mr. John Kalua was the Administrator from 2018 to 2022. From By-pass to Tsabango Worship Centre is about 15 to 20km.
In September, 2022 Mr. Chinkwita and his family joined the church but though they were going to Tsabango for prayers, they really wanted to have a prayer house nearby in Area 36 (By pass). According to Mr. John Kalua he says it was their prayer using Philippians 4 vs 6-7 that one day a prayer house should be situated near their locality. As they were praying, one day they gathered and agreed that they should ask Pastor Munthali that he should allow them to be gathering in area 36 (By-pass) because they are failing to go with their children to church because of long distance.
When this suggestion was presented to Dominion Worship Centre’s Council, it was not welcomed by other members of the Council because of different reasons that were given by members. When this issue went again for the second time to Council, they agreed that they can start gathering at By-pass on every Sunday but every last Sunday of the month they should be gathering together at Dominion Worship Centre.
When they started gathering Mr Chinkwita’s house, members from African Church where Mr Chinkwita was a member came to complain that RPC has robbed them of their member, but Mr. Chinkwita and his family insisted that they are no longer Africa International Church members.
At one time, Dominion Worship Centre had three Pastors, namely: Pastor Mtende Munthali, Pastor Roze Phiri (who was still doing Theological school) and Pastor Andrew Mkonda Banda who came from Karonga district but was yet to be ordained. As the membership started increasing every sunday, the church moved from Mr Chinkwita’s house to Faith Private School.
Because of that, the church decided to ask the Bishop Dr Chimwemwe Mhango, that he should send them Pastor Andrew Mkonda Banda to be their Pastor and the Bishop agreed to their request and instructed Pastor Munthali to release Pastor Andrew Mkonda Banda.
On 5th March, 2023 Pastor Andrew Mkonda Banda then started coming to Victory Worship Centre and the church was encouraged so much through his teaching of the word of God, and praised God for answering their prayers. And on 18th June, 2023 he was ordained as Pastor of RPC and he became the first pastor of Victory Worship Centre. Meanwhile, the church is growing as every Sunday it receives new members.
