Dominion Worship Centre is a branch of the Redeemed People’s Church, which was started in September 2016 by Lucy Mkandawire and her family members, including Catherine, Hazel, Wisdom, and Daniel Mtawali, as well as Diversion Felo, Yilipo Gondwe, and Catherine Mkandawire.
Before starting the church, these members used to attend Sunday services at the Lilongwe Worship Centre in Area 25. They were then encouraged by the Bishop of the church to start gathering in Area 22.
The group began holding small group meetings in their homes to gauge interest, and within a short period, the number of attendees grew quickly, outgrowing their living rooms.
On November 6, 2016, the Bishop of the church and its leadership rented a classroom at Tsabango Secondary School to host the church’s first public service. The service was attended by Bishop Dr. C.C. Mhango, Prophet Joshua from the DRC, and Brother Mtende Munthali (now the church’s pastor), who was assigned to lead the church.
The main church organized an evangelism crusade as part of its efforts to increase membership and launch the new church.
By the grace of God, Dominion worship Centre has been blessed to open a new branch, now called the Victory Worship Centre, situated along the Bypass Road. This sacred sanctuary is being shepherded with devotion and compassion by the esteemed Pastor Andrew Mkonda Banda.
The Dominion Worship Centre has been actively engaged in various outreach programs, spreading the light of the Gospel in the vibrant communities of Chipasula, Biwi Triangle, Area 22, and Area 36. This noble endeavor is a testament to our unwavering commitment to winning souls for the Kingdom of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Recently, the church has acquired state-of-the-art music equipment for our worship services, thanks to the success of our routine fundraising activities. This investment not only enhances the quality of our praise and worship but also inspires our congregation to lift their voices in joyful celebration of the Almighty.
Embracing the principles of the five-fold ministry, our church continues to equip God’s people for effective service and to build them up in their faith, ensuring that they are empowered to fulfill their divine callings and to make a lasting impact in their communities.
While the church faced numerous challenges, such as unstable membership and financial difficulties, it continued to grow in size, maturity, and spiritual strength. By the end of 2023, Dominion Worship Centre had over 70 active members and had established numerous outreach programs.
